Birthday Girl

Surprise!

We spent the second half of our trip with my family, and this part of the trip was a surprise! My parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on May 26th. My brothers and I all surprised them for Memorial Day weekend. They had no idea we were all coming. But we had a great weekend planned for them! We built a corn hole set and then played a lot of corn hole. We went fishing and took my parents our to a nice dinner at P.F. Chang's. Sadly, I forgot to take pictures most of the time. I did get a shot of Miranda in her cool summer hat and shades. I also captured the huge bass Zane caught when we went fishing.

Virginia Trip

The end of May, we spent several days in Virginia with our families. Our first stop was at ZsaZsa and Grandpa Joe's house, and we had a blast.

Catching Up

It's been a wild month for us! But we are finally at a place where everything has slowed down enough that I can even post some updates on the blog. To begin with, here are some more pictures from Zane's ordination/birthday weekend that I promised. On Zane's birthday, we went to the zoo.


ZsaZsa took Miranda on her first merry-go-round.


Miranda and her cousins Anna and Matilda in the mouth of a hippo...Miranda was not very happy to be there. She hasn't yet learned that hippos are herbivores.


I made Zane a Settlers of Catan birthday cake out of cupcakes. We were not going to let Miranda have a cupcake until her first birthday...oh well...best made plans right?

Preview

We had the most amazing weekend ever! Wednesday night, my parents arrived. Thursday morning, Zane's parents arrived. Thursday afternoon, my brother, sister-in-law and four nieces arrived. Friday was Zane's birthday. Saturday was his ordination. Sunday was Mother's Day. PHEW!!!! We packed a lot of fun into four days. We have lots of pictures and videos to share, but for now, here is a little preview of the good times.

Trouble

Zane and I are in trouble. When Miranda started to crawl, our sofas became the safe place to put things we did not want her to touch. When she learned to pull up to a standing position, that place became the kitchen table. As she grew, we had to move to higher grounds so the kitchen counter tops replaced the kitchen table. But as of this week, the counter tops are no longer safe! Maybe the mantle will work for a while.

Do you see those little fingers on the counter top? Trouble. Pure trouble.

Of Course

Miranda spent most of this winter trying to pull her hat off of her head. Of course, now that it is warm, she wants to wear her hat! I have to admit, she looks pretty cute in it even though it is 80 degrees outside. Also, Zane taught Miranda how to play 52 Card Pick Up. She loved it.
